The Management

Christ School (International) Shillong, is part of a growing family of educational institutions established and run by the Trust for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children-India (TAPC). The Trust is a registered non-profit body with its headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya, (INDIA) and has been instrumental in setting up educational institutions in Meghalaya since 1982, in the Bodo areas of Assam since 1998 and in Kerala since 2001.

The Founders

Dr. C Varghese, Executive Director

Christ School (International) Shillong is the dream comes true for Dr. C. Varghese, MA, B.Ed., M. Phil. L.LB, and Ph.D. An eminent Scholar and well known educationist. Dr. Varghese with over 30 years of experience as a teacher and an administrator has long nurtured the desire to set up a school as a centre of academic excellence to raise the bar on quality education and holistic learning.

A visiting scholar of the Montclair State University, USA, and among the pioneers to have introduced ‘philosophical counseling’ in India, Dr Varghese is well-known for in-service teacher training programmes.

Known for his progressive outlook and continuous strife to achieve excellence, he is the founder of St Xavier’s group of Residential Schools with institutions in Assam, Meghalaya and Kerala. He chairs the Trust for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children-India (TAPC) whose registered members include intellectuals and eminent personalities from different walks of life.

Dr. George Kallingal, Director

Born in Kerala and brought up in Calcutta, Darjeeling and Shillong Dr George Kallingal is a Don Bosco alumni. After completing his under graduate studies, he went to USA for his graduate education and earned a doctorate in Psychology, later completing a post doctoral internship to meet the Licensing criteria essential to certification as a Clinical Psychologist.

Dr. Kallingal taught in several US Universities for almost 40 years and engaged in clinical practice for about the same number of years. Now a Professor Emeritus Dr Kallingal continues to teach at the University of Guam and practices at the Kallingal’s Medical Clinic.

He has been published in many refereed journals and has presented papers to professional audiences in the US, India and many other countries. Dr. Kallingal has received many awards and recognition for his many and varied accomplishment.
